About Child Allergy Treatment

Concerning child allergy treatment, the options are pharmaceutical medications, emergency and rescue medications, and medical therapies.

Medications

Medications that are used for child allergy treatment are available both over-the-counter (OTC) and by prescription. Health care providers will often recommend trying the OTC version first to see if it is effective, and in needed then move on to prescriptions drugs for better or longer-term maintenance control. Naturally, this depends on the condition, associated symptoms and illnesses, side effects, and effectiveness. Over the counter medications are helpful to stop occasional and unexpected allergy reactions. Very often, prescription strength medications are better at minimizing drowsiness and other side-effects of medicinal child allergy treatment.

Different medications used in treating allergies in children, kids have different uses depending on the allergy and the reaction.

• Blockers for instance is an allergy medications in this category that work by blocking blood chemicals which cause allergic reactions. Both lekotriene blockers and histamine blockers (antihistamines) are used. Antihistamines can be found in both over the counter and prescription strength; leukotriene blockers are relatively new, but offer promise in the maintenance of asthma and child allergies. Also leukotriene blockers are available by prescription.

• Decongestants on the other hand are used to narrow blood vessels in the nose and clear congestion; decongestants may be either prescription or OTC-strength.

• Steroids medications as child allergy treatment come in oral, inhaled, and topical forms. Oral and inhaled steroids may be used to relieve symptoms of asthma and breathing difficulties caused by allergies; these steroids work to dilate airways and reduce airway inflammation. Oral steroids are also used in child allergy treatment to treat skin rashes caused by allergies and promote skin healing. Apart from that, steroids used to treat skin allergies may be applied topically in cream form.

Medications that are used in child allergy treatment are available in different forms, including oral liquids, tablets and chewables, and pills, inhalers and nebulized solutions, drops and sprays. Parents and the child’s physician can determine the best delivery options given the age and abilities of the child.

Tips for Buying Organic Baby Clothes

Broadly speaking, Organic means to be grown naturally without the use of pesticides and harmful chemicals.  If this is what you want for that precious little bundle that brought immense joy into your life, that is, clothing made without any toxic substances, going organic is your best option. Organic clothing is also safer as it is less flammable and contains no heavy metals, petrochemicals and other toxins that are harmful for humans and especially for newborns

Before entering the marketplace looking for organic clothing for your little one don’t overlook reading the labels.  Scrutinize them thoroughly and look over the fabric.  Due to the rise in Organic-conscious customers, companies have started to use buzz words such as all natural and even organic.  Don’t let that fool you.  An item of baby clothing that is genuinely organic will have the words 100% organic printed on its label.  This means it will not be just a blend of organic and synthetic.

Organic baby clothes are not easily available.  There are boutiques and stores that make their organic clothing available online.  This gives you a greater choice in choosing your favorite brand of baby clothing.  You also have the option of purchasing directly from the manufacturer instead of buying through stores.

Buying online from sites like Etsy and Ebay is also possible. These sell products by owners of small online shops.  But you must remember to look cautiously into the credibility of the seller and to check the product carefully on receiving it.

Reasons to Choose Organic Cotton

Here are some reasons why one must choose to use organic cotton over synthetically produced one. Organic cotton is grown using minimum chemicals and pesticides as against the 25% of the total chemicals used to grow cotton in the world.  Organic cotton offers more durability and is softer than any other type. It helps in saving energy as it does not depend on planes, tractors and other machinery. The chief element in its growth is the soil itself. It is not produced from genetically modified cotton seed and therefore poses no risk to humans or the environment.

Organic farming utilizes natural sources of fertilization such as manure and compost.  This improves the quality of the soil and produces much higher quality cotton.  On the other hand, non-organic farming depends on harsh chemicals for fertilizing the soil, destroying it in the process.

Water is a huge blessing of nature. It is impossible to live without it.  Three-fourths of the Earth’s surface is taken by it not to forget that it constitutes most of our body mass.  Conventional farming ignores the importance of this vital element using chemicals in an irresponsible manner.  These foul groundwater with harmful chemicals, some of which even known to cause cancer, polluting drinking water.

Research has shown that coming in contact with herbicides play a vital role in causing cancer amongst farmers.  Organic farming is more humane. What matters is not only faster growing crops and earning money, but also the health and protection of people and the environment.

Reasons to Eat Organic Foods

Organic food is food grown largely by natural means only using chemicals allowed by the Soil Association.  By developing a healthy and fertile soil farmers insure healthier crops.  There are numerous reasons why Organic food is best for humans. One of these is consumers’ partiality to its taste. This is probably because it is given time to grow naturally. Organic food is richer in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that help fighting against cancer. Growers of Organic food have strong limitations on the use of food additives.  A tiny portion of these is allowed by the Soil Association banning the rest due to health hazards.

Good news for those wary of the pesticides and chemicals they see sprayed over crops! Organic farming discourages their usage and only 4 of 311 available chemicals are approved by the Soil Association, (SA).

Dairy products and meat sold in the market are fed by genetically modified (GM) crops.  Efforts are underway to raise livestock off GM crops. Organically grown and produced dairy and meat products are now available in most countries.

Due to the use of drugs containing anti bodies that increase the growth rate of animals, humans are susceptible to grow resistance to these. The dependence on these has been banned by the SA. Because of the SA’s resistance to using drugs and feeding genetically modified crops to livestock, it has become synonymous with high standards of animal welfare.

Organic farming methods are beneficial for eco system. It hardly uses pesticides or chemicals lowering the amount of carbon di oxide produced this way.

Organic Skin Care

The organic movement has taken a momentum since the 1990s.  Not only limited to food items, it has branched out into the cosmetic arena as well.  Consumers are becoming more conscious of the chemicals used in perfumes, beauty and skin care products that they routinely purchase.  The cosmetic and skin care industry has responded by offering a wide range of what they claim are organic products.

How does one define the term Organic? Everything that is a derivative of living organisms is organic.  This is just a rough definition of the term though.  Going by it means that even carbon, the main cause of environmental pollution is also organic.  It can be more rightly defined as a product which is made by using items that are grown under the standards set by the Soil Association which prohibits the use of pesticides and chemicals, and without adding any synthetic preservatives.

After becoming organic eaters, you may just be wondering about organic skin care.  There are those who argue that there is no significance of organic ingredients in non-food items.  Remember, what we use on our skin, ends up getting absorbed by it entering our blood stream hence the need to be wary. Cosmetics using organic components are free of harmful chemicals like pesticides and fertilizers. These chemicals are responsible for causing cancer, and other diseases.

For a cosmetic product to be labeled as organic it is important that a simple, ecological production process be used, the ingredients be derived from naturally grown materials and all non-agricultural water be avoided.

Pets Deserve the Best Too: Organic Food

A complete diet means supporting the whole animal by supplying natural nourishment to sustain the internal biological system. The more pure the food is, the better will be the digestion resulting in better absorption of nutrients and consequently a healthier animal. An organic diet that is free from synthetic additives, chemicals, derivatives and any unnatural material will help preserve a healthy state in pets. Organic components supply natural nutrition and help in keeping the normal functioning of the body continuous. An animal that is healthy is more resistant to diseases. By keeping the dietary requirements of a pet balanced and appropriately supported, the animal will be able to keep-up in great shape giving the owners more pleasure and pride in them.  There is no ignoring the fact that a proper diet is directly proportional to good health.

Before buying a product for your pet check if the label reads Organic.  This term shows that the product has been tested and approved by the Organic Foods Production Act and subscribes to the true organic standards.  Organic food is produced by avoiding the use of chemicals and pesticides, letting crops and livestock grow naturally without taking over from nature.  The materials used are eco-friendly and help the environment instead of deteriorating it.

Sales of Organic pet food went up by 63% just last year.  It’s proof that people are becoming conscious about using organic products not only for themselves but also for their pets.  It may cost a little more than conventional pet food, but it means a healthier pet and therefore shorter vet-bills.
