What should be a two minute job can turn into a group effort taking half an hour when it comes to changing your duvet cover as people get confused and tangled up. Well not any more. For a step by step guide of changing your duvet cover, this is the article for you.

Step 1
First of all, you need to take the old duvet cover off your bed, ready to be washed. This will leave your bed free from any unnecessary objects that will only hinder your progress at replacing the duvet cover. The more room you have the better, especially if you have a king sixe duvet cover or even a super king.

Step 2
Make sure that you turn your new duvet cover inside out as your next step. This will all become clear when you start to move it over the duvet itself. You should also lay the blanket out on the bed as you would sleep under it, so the shorter ends are at the head and foot of the bed.

Step 3
Next you need to find the two corners in the duvet cover which go with the two end corners of the blanket. For most covers this will be the two corners at the opposite end of the opening. You may feel silly, but when you have both arms in these corners the duvet may fall over your head, if it does start again and this time bunch the duvet up as you move towards the corners.

Step 4
Once you have hold of the corners it is time to find the corresponding corners of the blanket you want to cover. If you laid it out as described in step 2 then you should be stood at the bottom of your bed. Try to keep hold of the corners of both the duvet cover and the blanket so the cover will be in the right place.

Step 5
Now it’s time for the best bit. I am quite short which means that I cannot get the cover to fall over the entire blanket. So, once I have the corners firmly in hand I like to stand on the bed and shake the duvet cover downwards. If you are a lot shorter than the duvet then hang it off the bed and you will have more room to work with.

Step 6
If you have shaken hard enough then the duvet should now totally cover the blanket and you will be able to fasten the buttons or poppers. Once everything has been fastened then give the duvet an extra shake and you will have a smooth blanket under which to have a peaceful night’s sleep.
