Why You Should Feed Your Greyhound A Specialist Pet Food Product

Greyhounds have a very specific physical make-up so you need to be aware that they should be fed a diet different to other dogs.It is believed that over 50% of behavioural problems with dogs is attributed to the additives in their food, the same as is often said of children. The same can be said for greyhounds, whose behaviour can be negatively affected by chemicals contained within their food.

Greyhound Food is available from quality pet stores and is great for feeding to retired and rescued greyhounds.Unless your greyhound is overweight, it does no harm to feed them as much as they want to eat at first.

One key ingredient is a quality greyhound food will be oil, and commonly fish oil. Fish oils offer a multitude of health benefits and will help to keep your dog’s skin healthy, coat glossy and eyes bright. To increase your greyhound’s oil levels you can always add a teaspoon of cod liver oil to one of their feeds. Or perhaps as a treat you could feed them an oily fish such as sardines or tuna (just check for bones first). If the food is served dry you must ensure you provide plenty of fresh water to drink at all times.

A dog’s digestive system can cope with raw meat easily, it is what they would eat if they had to catch their own dinner.Pork and poultry are the two types of raw meat that should never be given to any dog.Dogs need a balanced diet as they are not carnivorous. They need a mixture of proteins, carbohydrates and fats.

A specialist greyhound food is the only way of ensuring your pet gets the right balance of nutrients needed in his diet.
